Hi spooler,

have you been told to take probiotics (lactic acid bacteria/bifidobacteria) while you are on the antimicrobial treatment? I'd strongly recommend those, they could help balance the microbial flora into a more healthy one. Especially now as the antibiotic kills them nonselectively. What about increasing the amount of vegetables and fibre in your diet, especially if you yourself feel that could be increased? You might wish to ask your doctor about this.

I'm not familiar at all with SIBO, but I've yet to come across evidence that probiotic products would be harmful to anyone.

All the best,
T

Just picking up on some posts from Dec 09, Is this the condition that can cause a false high serum B12?

The topic is named right so putting this here, just re-reading something and for reference this may be of use top some;

" Elevation of serum folate is suggestive of small bowel bacterial overgrowth. Indeed, bacterial folate can be absorbed into the circulation. "

It might have been redheap! who expecting from all the advice to find folate down, it was in fact up. Will post values another time. If assocuated with bacterial overgrowth, it's at least good to know there is an explanation, other than myloproliferative disease..
